Movie Desk: Mitramandali movie review and rating: Making a comedy film might look easy, but genuinely making people laugh is one of the toughest tasks in cinema.
Mithramandali is one such attempt starring Priyadarshi and Niharika NM in lead roles, with Bunny Vas presenting the film. Let’s see how the movie fares.
Story
A caste-obsessed politician, Narayan (VTV Ganesh), is shocked when his daughter Swetcha (Niharika NM) elopes with her lover.
To protect his family’s reputation, he seeks the help of police officer Sagar (Vennela Kishore) to track her down.
During the investigation, Sagar discovers that four friends Ramu (Priyadarshi), Ragh Mayur, Vishnu, and Prasad Behara are somehow linked to Swetcha’s disappearance.
They are a group of aimless young men in their village, but what exactly is their connection with Swetcha?
Did she really elope, or is there something darker behind her vanishing? The rest of the story unfolds these mysteries.
Analysis
The film tries hard to evoke laughter in the first half, but most scenes feel forced.
Mithramandali seems to follow the same pattern as Jathi Ratnalu, attempting to replicate its style and humor, unfortunately, without success.
In the second half, the narrative completely goes off track. Scenes lack logic and emotional coherence. Even talented comedians like Vennela Kishore and Satya are underutilized.
Performances by Priyadarshi, Ragh Mayur, Prasad Behara, and Vishnu are decent, but the weak screenplay doesn’t support their efforts.
Satya’s comic timing works in a few moments, but it often feels exaggerated.
On the technical front, the film is average. The production values and background score fail to leave an impression, and the flaws in writing are quite evident throughout.
Verdict
In the end, Mithramandali turns out to be a comedy that ends up testing the patience of the audience instead of entertaining them.
With a weak script and inconsistent humor, it remains an average outing at best.
