Amaravati: Krishnapatnam’s ₹37,500 Cr KRIS City to Transform AP
Ambitious Industrial Hub Unveiled
The Andhra Pradesh government is developing Krishnapatnam Industrial Smart City (KRIS City) in Tirupati district with a ₹37,500 crore investment. This greenfield project is expected to generate 4.67 lakh jobs, reshaping the region’s economic landscape.
Strategic Location Advantage
Situated near Krishnapatnam Port, Tirupati International Airport, and NH-16, KRIS City benefits from seamless connectivity under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC). Its proximity to major cities like Chennai and Vijayawada enhances its appeal for investors.
Phased Development Plan
Spanning 10,834 acres across Chillakuru and Kota mandals, the project is divided into three phases, with Phase 1 targeting 2,500 acres by February 2027. Infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and utilities, is progressing rapidly.
Infrastructure Funding and Progress
The National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) has released ₹531.36 crore of the ₹2,139.43 crore allocated for Phase 1 trunk infrastructure. The project includes power, water supply, and connectivity enhancements.
Addressing Land Acquisition Concerns
Farmers expressed concerns over livelihood losses due to land acquisition, prompting the government to increase compensation from ₹5.99 lakh to ₹8 lakh per acre. To date, ₹40 crore has been disbursed for 371 acres.
Targeted Industries and Economic Impact
KRIS City aims to attract sectors like textiles, food processing, automobiles, electronics, and engineering. The project is projected to draw ₹10,500 crore in manufacturing investments, fostering regional growth.
Government’s Commitment to Speed
Revived under the current coalition government, the project has gained momentum since its 2017 agreement with NICDIT. Authorities are accelerating efforts to meet the 2027 deadline for Phase 1 completion.
Vision for Sustainable Growth
Designed as a sustainable, smart industrial city, KRIS City aligns with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. It aims to establish Andhra Pradesh as a premier manufacturing hub with global competitiveness.
