International Yoga Day Triumph
On June 21, 2025, Andhra Pradesh celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with unprecedented fervor, drawing thousands to Visakhapatnam’s RK Beach. The Yoga Andhra initiative, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, saw participation from diverse groups, including youth and children, aligning with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Record-Breaking Participation
The event achieved remarkable milestones, with 1.44 lakh yoga instructors registered and 2.17 crore participants across 1.40 lakh locations statewide. Notably, 3 lakh individuals joined the Visakhapatnam program, and 1.70 crore received certificates, underscoring the initiative’s massive scale.
Leadership Engagement
Prime Minister Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan actively participated, performing yoga asanas. Modi also released a commemorative postage stamp, reinforcing yoga’s global significance.
Transformative Vision
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized yoga’s role in enhancing physical and mental health, advocating its integration into daily life and sports. He highlighted the program’s contribution to the Swarnandhra 2047 vision, aiming for a “Healthy, Wealthy, Happy” Andhra Pradesh.
Guinness Record Achievement
The event set a Guinness World Record with 22,000 tribal students performing Surya Namaskar. Deputy Chief Minister Kalyan credited Modi for globalizing yoga, portraying it as a universal practice rooted in Indian Sanatana Dharma.
Strategic Development Goals
Minister Nara Lokesh outlined plans to position Visakhapatnam as South India’s premier IT hub, targeting five lakh jobs. He praised the program’s success, attributing it to widespread public awareness and meticulous organization.
