Tirumala: Tirumala’s AI Edge: Lesser Hassle, Quicker Darshan
Devotees flocking to Tirumala for darshan of Lord Venkateswara are in for a smoother ride. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has rolled out India’s first AI-integrated Command and Control Center, or ICCC, right on the hilltop. Set for inauguration by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on September 25, this Rs 30 crore setup in Vaikuntham-1 promises to ease crowds and amp up safety.
Crowd Management Gets Smarter
From Alipiri gates onward, AI will gauge pilgrim flows in real time. It tracks queue lengths, wait times, and even sarvadarsanam status to keep things moving. Over 25 staff will monitor CCTV feeds, dishing out updates as needed to prevent bottlenecks.
Facial Tech for Swift Spotting
Face recognition will ID visitors quickly, nabbing thieves or spotting lost folks in a flash. It could even pick up on discomfort from facial cues, alerting teams to step in. In emergencies, the system maps out nearest safe routes via 3D visuals.
Key perks include:
- Real-time red spots for high-traffic zones
- Queue and lodging overviews on interactive maps
- Quick responses to keep the peace
Cyber Shields and Feedback Loop
Online threats like cyberattacks or damaging social media posts get blocked upfront. False info spreads are curbed too, protecting TTD’s image. Plus, it pulls in devotee feedback on the fly to fine-tune the darshan experience.
Roots in NRI Vision
The idea sparked last October during Minister Lokesh‘s US trip, where NRIs pitched this integrated setup. By February this year, they detailed it during a Tirumala visit and pledged the funds. With top officials on board, the voluntary push made this national first a reality.
