Minister Lokesh Alleges Political Drama at Tirumala
Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of orchestrating a politically motivated disturbance at the sacred Tirumala temple. Speaking on the incident, Lokesh claimed that a staged protest within the darshan compartment was deliberately filmed and circulated on social media to malign the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the coalition government.
According to Lokesh, the individual involved in the protest was identified as Baddili Achcharao, a YSRCP worker from Thimmapuram, Kakinada Rural. He alleged that the act was part of a larger “Paytm batch” conspiracy aimed at discrediting the TTD administration.
Viral Video Sparks Controversy
A video surfaced online showing devotees raising slogans against TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu and Executive Officer (EO) during a midnight darshan session at Tirumala. The footage was quickly picked up by opposition leaders, who criticized the government’s handling of pilgrim amenities, alleging VIP favoritism and neglect of common devotees.
YSRCP sympathizers widely shared the video, claiming that basic facilities were lacking at the temple under the current administration. This narrative gained momentum online before being addressed by the minister.
Minister Releases Counter Evidence
Minister Lokesh responded by releasing multiple videos on social media, asserting that the protest was fabricated. In a public statement, he affirmed that the TTD governing body under B R Naidu was prioritizing pilgrim welfare and improving service delivery continuously. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against those spreading false narratives targeting the sanctity of Tirumala.
Lokesh’s tweet read:
“YSRCP leader Baddili Achcharao from Thimmapuram staged a fake protest in Tirumala darshan queues. It was a scripted drama to mislead devotees and discredit the TTD. The board led by B R Naidu is committed to delivering world-class services. Any attempt to politicize holy grounds will face severe action.”
Protester Retracts Allegations
In a surprising twist, the individual at the center of the controversy, Baddili Achcharao, spoke to the media and retracted his statements. He admitted that he was unwell during the incident and had simply asked for milk as he couldn’t eat the sambar rice served. He clarified that the TTD staff responded promptly and provided him with milk and denied making any hostile remarks toward the temple authorities.
Achcharao further stated that the queue arrangements were smooth and that he did not face any inconvenience. This retraction dealt a major blow to YSRCP’s online campaign, effectively nullifying their criticisms.
