Intensified Counter-Terror Operations
Following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, Indian security forces have launched robust counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. In the 100 days since the attack, 12 terrorists, including six from Pakistan, have been eliminated.

The remaining six were linked to various terrorist activities in the region. Sources indicate ongoing operations across multiple units to neutralize remaining threats.

Operation Sindoor Launched
In response to the Pahalgam attack, the Indian government initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. The operation targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), resulting in the deaths of 100 terrorists.

Camps belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed were destroyed. The strikes extended 100 km beyond the border, showcasing precise military action.

Operation Mahadev Success
On July 28, 2025, Operation Mahadev eliminated three Pakistani terrorists—Suleman Shah, Hamza Afghani, and Zibran —responsible for the Pahalgam attack. Conducted in Dachigam forests near Srinagar, the operation was a significant blow to terror networks.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed in Parliament that the operation successfully neutralized the attack’s masterminds. Seized weapons included an M4 Carbine and two AK-47 rifles.

Additional Operations
Operation Shiv Shakti resulted in the elimination of two more terrorists. On May 15, 2025, three terrorists were killed in Shopian’s Keller forests and three in the Nader area.

Security sources noted that multiple units are engaged in ongoing anti-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir, though the exact number of operations remains undisclosed.

Terrorist Presence in Region
Intelligence reports indicate 110-130 terrorists were active in 42 launch pads in PoJK before the Pahalgam attack. Currently, 70-75 terrorists are active in Kashmir, with 60-65 operating in Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch.

The government remains committed to dismantling these networks, with continuous operations aimed at ensuring regional security.
