New Delhi: India’s defence sector is preparing to unveil another groundbreaking achievement, the New Hypersonic Missile Dhwani, a next-generation weapon system that promises to outclass even the legendary BrahMos.

Developed by DRDO, this hypersonic glide vehicle will be launched with a rocket into the upper atmosphere and then separate to speed toward its target at supersonic velocity.

Reports suggest that Dhwani can travel at an astonishing speed of 7,400 km per hour, giving it the ability to strike targets within a 1,500–2,000 km range in just minutes.

Its advanced maneuvering capabilities make it nearly impossible for enemy defence systems to intercept, ensuring rapid and precise strikes.

So far, DRDO has successfully conducted tests on aerodynamics, scramjet engines, and thermal management systems.

Full-scale trials of the missile are expected by the end of this year.

Experts believe that even advanced defence shields like Israel’s Iron Dome or America’s THAAD would struggle to neutralize this hypersonic weapon.

Strategic analysts call Dhwani a game-changer for India’s defence self-reliance, strengthening national security and elevating India’s position in the global weapons race.
