Hyderabad: Kavitha’s CM Ambition Sparks BRS Turmoil

Chief Ministerial Aspirations Declared

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has publicly announced her ambition to become Telangana’s Chief Minister, asserting that she will achieve this goal regardless of whether it takes a decade or two. In a candid interview with a media outlet, she expressed her determination to remain within the BRS, dismissing speculations of forming a new political party.

Internal Party Discontent Voiced

Kavitha voiced significant dissatisfaction with the BRS’s internal dynamics, alleging that certain party insiders, whom she metaphorically described as “demons” surrounding her father and party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), are undermining the party’s prospects. She attributed the BRS’s current opposition status to these internal saboteurs and criticized the lack of support during her legal challenges in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case linked to the Delhi liquor policy scam.

Allegations of Party Mismanagement

The MLC accused specific BRS members of contributing to her electoral defeat in the 2019 Nizamabad Lok Sabha polls, citing inadequate cooperation from party MLAs. She further highlighted the controversial leak of a confidential letter she wrote to KCR, which criticized his leadership style and the party’s soft stance toward the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as a deliberate act to tarnish her image.

Strained Relations with KTR

While denying personal conflicts with her brother, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the BRS working president, Kavitha acknowledged a political rift. She emphasized her loyalty to KCR as her sole leader, indirectly questioning KTR’s influence and dismissing the need to align with his leadership. Her remarks have fueled speculation about a potential succession battle within the BRS.

Phone Tapping Controversy Addressed

Responding to allegations of phone tapping, Kavitha defended KCR, asserting that he would not authorize such actions. She suggested that lower-level officials might be responsible, distancing the party leadership from the controversy. This claim adds another layer to the ongoing internal strife within the BRS.

Critique of Congress and Optimism for BRS

Kavitha criticized the ruling Congress government, alleging growing public discontent and predicting a BRS comeback in future elections. She vowed to strengthen her socio-cultural organization, Telangana Jagruthi, across all constituencies to bolster grassroots support and enhance the BRS’s electoral prospects.

Strategic Electoral Ambitions

Expressing her intent to contest as an MLA in upcoming elections, Kavitha aims to solidify her political standing within Telangana. Her proactive stance and public criticism of party operations signal a strategic move to assert her influence and challenge the existing leadership hierarchy.

Call for Internal Reforms

Kavitha urged the BRS to expel covert operatives to ensure the party’s longevity, emphasizing the need for transparent internal communication. Her outspoken critique and the leaked letter controversy have intensified discussions about the BRS’s future direction and leadership dynamics.
