NATIONAL: Deadly Design? Boeing Faces Suit Over Air India Crash

The tragic Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad has left a nation in mourning, and now the families of four victims are seeking justice through a US lawsuit against Boeing and Honeywell.

Filed on Tuesday, the suit points to design flaws in the 787 Dreamliner’s fuel system as the root cause.

The petitioners claim the companies knew about vulnerabilities in the fuel switches during the aircraft’s development but ignored them.

This oversight, they argue, led to the sudden loss of engine power shortly after takeoff.

Allegations of Negligence
Families assert there was a critical design issue affecting fuel supply and thrust control.

They accuse Boeing and Honeywell of failing to implement safeguards against such failures.

Neither company has issued a response to the filing yet, leaving questions hanging in the air.

The Crash and Official Probes
On June 12, the Dreamliner bound for London lifted off from Ahmedabad with 242 souls aboard. Disaster struck almost immediately, claiming 241 lives with only one survivor.

India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau preliminarily blamed a fuel supply interruption to the engines.

In contrast, the US Federal Aviation Administration maintains that fuel control switches on Boeing aircraft function as intended.

This discrepancy fuels the ongoing debate, as investigations continue to unravel the sequence of events.

The lawsuit could spotlight broader safety concerns in aviation manufacturing, pressing for accountability in an industry where lives hang in the balance.
