Amaravati: AP’s Lakh-Crore Gamble: Jobs Tsunami Incoming?

Andhra Pradesh just threw open its doors wider than ever, green-lighting investments that could easily cross a staggering one lakh crore rupees. In a marathon cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, ministers cleared a flurry of projects promising tens of thousands of jobs across IT, manufacturing, defense, semiconductors, and green energy. The message is loud: the state is back in business, and it means serious business.

Visakhapatnam Emerges as Tech Magnet

The coastal city stole the show with multiple mega deals. From massive IT parks to cutting-edge AI and cybersecurity campuses, Vizag is being positioned as the next big tech destination in India.

Major highlights include:

  • K Raheja Corp pumping ₹2,172 crore for IT space and residential zones, creating 15,000 jobs with land at just 99 paise per acre.
  • Vishakha Realty getting the nod for a three-phase IT park worth ₹2,200 crore, expected to employ 30,000 people.
  • Quarks Techno, Fluent Grid, iSpace, and Mothers Next together bringing over ₹490 crore in AI, IoT, and software investments.

Even existing players like ANSR Global saw their 33-year lease extended to 99 years for their Global Capability Center.

Mega Manufacturing Push Across Districts

The cabinet didn’t stop at tech. Heavy industry and strategic manufacturing got massive boosts in multiple locations.

Standout approvals:

  • Indichip Semiconductors: ₹22,976 crore semiconductor unit in Orvakallu, 150 acres at concessional rates.
  • AM Green Metals: ₹44,000 crore green aluminium smelter, ultra-mega project status.
  • Super Smelters: ₹8,570 crore integrated steel plant in Vizianagaram.
  • Vasang Footwear: ₹898 crore unit in Kuppam, promising a whopping 17,645 jobs.
  • Bharat Dynamics: ₹489 crore defense equipment facility in Anakapalli.

From drones to solar modules, PCBs to particle boards, every corner of the state is getting a slice of the industrial pie.

Amaravati Revival Gets Real Muscle

The capital region is finally seeing concrete momentum. The cabinet unlocked ₹7,500 crore in bank loans and another ₹1,500 crore from Amaravati Power Finance for LPS zones. An additional ₹1,863 crore was cleared for roads, drainage, water supply, and power in land-pooled areas.

A second flood pumping station at Undavalli worth ₹595 crore also received administrative approval, with funding lined up from World Bank and ADB.

Two Game-Changing Policies Launched

The state rolled out visionary frameworks to future-proof its economy.

  1. AP Quantum Computing Policy 2025-30
Aims to make Andhra a global quantum valley with a dedicated center in Amaravati, incentives for startups and manufacturers, and a target of training 5,000 specialists and nurturing over 100 startups.
  2. AP Neighborhood Work System Policy 2025-30
Plans digital workspaces in every mandal to support gig workers and rural professionals, offering capital subsidies, skill training, and self-sustainability goals for at least 70% of hubs.

These aren’t just policies; they’re bold bets on tomorrow’s technologies.

From semiconductors to quantum computing, defense to drones, Andhra Pradesh is scripting one of the most aggressive industrial comebacks in recent Indian history. If even half these projects take off, the state’s job market and economy could be unrecognizable in five years.
