INTERNATIONAL: UN Bombshell: Israel Accused of Genocide in Gaza
In a dramatic and shocking move, a United Nations inquiry has accused Israel of deliberately committing genocide against Palestinians living in Gaza.
The report, which was published on Tuesday, is a 72-page document made by the UN Human Rights Council’s independent commission.
The report alleges that since October 2023, the Israeli military and others have committed four genocidal acts.
In addition to these accusations, the report also alleges the top Israeli leaders not only did these acts but drove them by giving incendiary speeches.
Life in Gaza: A Stranglehold
According to the report, Israel had already severely restricted the flow of goods into Gaza before the Hamas attack on October 7.
After the total blockade that cut off the supply of essentials such as water, food, electricity, fuel, and humanitarian aid to the area, survival became a difficult task for the people of Gaza.
The United Nations characterized this as a carefully planned strategy, using the basic needs of life as a weapon against the people.
Devastating Human Cost
The report on the humanitarian side of things is not a pretty one. The report states that the Israeli bombardment made many Palestinians suffer serious injuries and trauma from the attack and the destruction of their homes.
Nobody, not even the journalists, healthcare personnel, or volunteers for aid, was safe from the attacks on houses, schools, hospitals, or mosques.
The death of Hind Rajab, who was only five, is mentioned among the instances, with violence perpetrators allegedly knowing that children were among those targeted.
Casualties and Controversy
According to the Gazan Health Ministry, 65,000 people have lost their lives since October 7, but there is no information on the number of fighters killed in battles and non-combatant deaths, such as women and children.
Israel claims that the mission was done in self-defense and therefore the accusation of genocide is unfounded. They consider the report to be full of lies and one-sided to support the claims of Hamas.
Israel’s Fierce Rebuttal
The Israeli Foreign Ministry was very critical of the accusations and referred to the conclusions as “distorted and false,” as well as calling for the abolition of the commission.
They make terrorist associations of the authors and argue that with the worldwide criticism that has already refuted their anti-Jewish discourse, this is just another lie.
This sharp parting of ways remains the ongoing fight for truth about the conflict.
