TELANGANA: Revanth Says Jubilee Hills Win Raises The Bar
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hailed the Congress party’s sweeping win in the Jubilee Hills by-election as a mandate that heightens their governance duties.
Addressing a packed press conference to celebrate candidate V. Naveen Yadav’s triumph, Reddy emphasized how Hyderabad residents have deepened their faith in Congress after scrutinizing two years of the party’s rule.
This urban endorsement, he noted, corrects the modest showing in the 2023 assembly polls.
Gratitude Amid Growing Mandate
Reddy extended heartfelt thanks to Jubilee Hills voters for their resounding support, crediting them with validating the government’s welfare push.
He also praised party volunteers and leaders for their tireless campaign efforts that propelled Yadav to victory.
Such backing, Reddy added, underscores the public’s approval of Congress initiatives amid past electoral shortcomings in the city.
The chief minister highlighted a clear upward trajectory in voter preference.
Congress captured 39 percent in the 2023 assembly elections, rising to 42 percent in the subsequent Lok Sabha polls, and now commanding 51 percent in this bypoll.
BRS trailed at 38 percent, while BJP managed just 8 percent, forfeiting its deposit.
Urban Revival on the Horizon
With Hyderabad generating up to 65 percent of Telangana’s revenue, Reddy vowed accelerated development to honor its economic weight. Plans include easing traffic woes and crafting a blueprint for a hassle-free metropolis.
He stressed transforming the city by tackling encroachments on water bodies and drainage systems.
Reddy urged collaboration over confrontation, calling on Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to release stalled central funds for key projects like Metro expansion and Musi River cleanup.
Permissions for these initiatives remain pending, he pointed out, despite their potential to uplift thousands.
Sharp Words for Central and State Rivals
The CM drew a pointed contrast in BJP’s fortunes within Kishan Reddy’s Secunderabad parliamentary seat, where the party once polled around 65,000 votes but scraped just over 17,000 in this bypoll.
Voters have observed the minister’s approach, Reddy suggested, viewing the result as an early warning of larger disruptions ahead if trends persist.
Turning to state opposition, Reddy advised BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to temper his perceived overconfidence and envy post-power loss.
Positions shift with time, he remarked, urging BRS to shun fabricated narratives and surveys. Congress, he affirmed, stays committed to public battles regardless of wins or losses.
Alliances, Future Polls, and Long-Term Vision
Reddy expressed appreciation to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for backing Congress in Jubilee Hills, noting such partnerships vary by state needs.
On Bihar outcomes, he deferred comment pending review, while a cabinet session on November 17 will deliberate local body election strategies.
Regarding BRS patriarch K. Chandrashekar Rao, Reddy noted his current health challenges and reduced political engagement, deeming further response unnecessary.
Looking ahead, the chief minister projected Congress governance for the next decade, promising tangible transformations.
The event saw participation from PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy CM B. Bhatti Vikramarka, and several ministers, reflecting party unity in this morale-boosting moment.
