TELANGANA: KTR Slams Revanth Reddy Over Drug Case Allegations in Khammam

Fiery Retort at Khammam Media Conference
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) vehemently rejected Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s drug-related allegations during a Khammam press meet on July 18, 2025. Demanding evidence or a public apology, KTR warned of legal repercussions for what he termed defamatory claims.

Drug Case Claims Challenged
KTR dismissed Reddy’s Delhi media statements linking him to a drug case via forensic reports, questioning the existence of any formal charges or proof. Asserting his clean lifestyle, he challenged Reddy to substantiate the accusations or admit to fabricating them.

Accusations of Political Diversion
Labeling Reddy’s tactics as “diversion politics,” KTR criticized the Chief Minister for failing to deliver on Congress’s six guarantees and mismanaging the Banakacherla water project. He alleged Reddy’s actions favored Andhra Pradesh’s interests, betraying Telangana’s water rights.

Friendship with Nara Lokesh Defended
KTR clarified his open friendship with Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, refuting Reddy’s claims of a clandestine meeting. He described Lokesh as a “younger brother,” dismissing the accusations as personal attacks to deflect from governance shortcomings.

Legal Action Threatened
In a strongly worded X post, KTR condemned Reddy’s “baseless” remarks, accusing him of evading legal accountability by making allegations in Delhi. He demanded an immediate apology, warning that continued defamation would lead to court action.

Banakacherla Issue Under Scrutiny
KTR highlighted discrepancies in Reddy’s account of a Delhi meeting, where Banakacherla was discussed despite denials, as confirmed by Andhra Pradesh’s Irrigation Minister. He accused Reddy of compromising Telangana’s 968 TMC Godavari water share in a “dark deal” with Chandrababu Naidu.

Escalating Political Tensions
The ongoing feud reflects deeper political friction, with KTR accusing Reddy of avoiding direct debates on critical issues like farmers’ welfare. He alleged Reddy’s reliance on smear campaigns masks a record of unfulfilled promises and administrative failures.
