BUSINESS DESK: Ather Rizta Hits 2-Lakh Sales in Just 20 Months

Ather Energy’s family-oriented electric scooter, the Rizta, has notched an impressive achievement by surpassing 200,000 units sold across India.

Launched in April 2024, it hit the 100,000 milestone back in May 2025. The model then added another 100,000 in just over six months, signaling strong consumer pull.

Powering Ather’s Portfolio
This scooter now stands as Ather’s top seller, making up about 70 percent of the company’s overall volumes.

Its appeal lies in blending practicality with modern tech, drawing families into the electric mobility fold. Such dominance highlights how one product can reshape a brand’s trajectory.

Breaking Regional Barriers
The Rizta has propelled Ather’s footprint well beyond its southern strongholds into central and northern regions.

Market presence has doubled in key areas, reflecting targeted outreach and rising adoption.

  • Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh: From 7 percent in the first quarter to 14 percent by the third.
  • Punjab: Up from 8 percent to 15 percent.
  • Uttar Pradesh: Gained from 4 percent to 10 percent.

Chief Business Officer Ravneet Singh noted that the Rizta has fueled substantial growth in these markets. He emphasized plans to bolster the distribution network for even wider reach.

Tailored for Families
Available in two trims, the Rizta caters to varied needs with reliable performance.

The base Rizta S offers an IDC-certified range of 123 kilometers per charge.

The premium Rizta Z extends that to 159 kilometers, ideal for longer outings.

What sets it apart is the thoughtful design for everyday use. Highlights include a roomy seat for three, generous under-seat storage, and extra leg space up front.

Safety features round out the package with skid control, fall detection, emergency braking signals, theft and tow notifications, plus a handy “ping my scooter” locator.

Footprint Beyond Borders
Ather markets the Rizta not just in India but also in neighboring Sri Lanka and Nepal.

This move underscores the scooter’s role in pushing electric vehicles regionally, one family ride at a time.
