ANDHRA PRADESH: AP’s Mega PTM 2.0 Unites 2 Crore for Education

Historic Education Initiative
The Andhra Pradesh government launched Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0 on July 10, 2025, bringing together over 2 crore participants across 61,135 educational institutions in a single day. This ambitious program, aimed at fostering collaboration for quality education, is set to achieve a Guinness World Record for its massive scale. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh led the event at Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu, Sri Sathya Sai District.

Engaging Stakeholders Statewide
The initiative united 74.96 lakh students, 3.32 lakh teachers, 1.49 crore parents, donors, alumni, and public representatives in government, aided, and unaided schools and junior colleges. Building on the success of the first Mega PTM in December 2024, which saw 25.46 lakh parents participate, this event emphasizes community-driven education reforms. The program aligns with the Right to Education Act, 2009, and National Education Policy, 2020, promoting inclusive stakeholder participation.

Chief Minister’s Interaction
At Kothacheruvu, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu interacted directly with students, inquiring about their aspirations and encouraging them to aim high. Minister Nara Lokesh, the driving force behind the initiative, emphasized its role in making Andhra Pradesh’s education system a national benchmark. The event was marked by a festive atmosphere, with schools decorated and activities planned to engage all attendees.

Holistic Progress and Activities
Teachers distributed Holistic Progress Cards to parents, providing insights into students’ academic and social development. Activities included family photo booths, positive parenting sessions, and the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, where students plant saplings in their mothers’ names and receive Green Passports via the LEAP App. Health screenings under the Rashtriya Bala Suraksha Karyakram (RBSK) were conducted, with Health Booklets issued for long-term tracking.

Community and Infrastructure Focus
Public meetings led by headmasters highlighted school performance, infrastructure gaps, and action plans. Fun activities like rangoli competitions and tug-of-war fostered camaraderie among parents and stakeholders. The event also featured anti-drug awareness sessions and cyber safety discussions to address social issues impacting students.

Record-Breaking Ambition
The state government meticulously planned the event, with senior officials like Kona Sasidhar (Kona Sasidhar) and B. Srinivasa Rao (B. Srinivasa Rao) ensuring flawless execution through video conferences. Witnesses, including sarpanches and alumni, were registered via the LEAP App to meet Guinness World Record requirements. This initiative underscores Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to holistic education and community involvement.
