ANDHRA PRADESH: AP’s Bold Education Leap—Mega DSC Utsav Today
Ceremony Highlights
Andhra Pradesh is set to hand out appointment letters to 15,941 newly selected teachers during a grand event in Amaravati on Thursday.
This marks the first major initiative since the coalition government took office, with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu personally signing off on the Mega DSC process.
Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh described it as the government’s initial triumph, emphasizing its role in strengthening the education sector.
The program, overseen by Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, expects around 32,000 participants, including the appointees and their families.
Inclusive Participation
Organizers have arranged district-specific zones to facilitate smooth proceedings.
Lokesh urged MLAs and MPs to join, highlighting it as a chance to build ties with incoming teachers in their constituencies.
Invitations have been extended to opposition YSRCP MLAs, including the one from Pulivendula, via the General Administration Department and the Legislative Assembly.
This gesture aims to foster bipartisan support for the initiative.
Praise from Across Aisles
Deputy Speaker Raghuramakrishna Raju noted that the Mega DSC earned nods even from opposition parties for its fair execution.
He credited the process for wrapping up in a record 150 days under the new administration.
The exams ran online, with help desks at various levels to address issues promptly.
This approach ensured transparency and quick resolution of any concerns raised.
Groundbreaking Reforms
For the first time, the state applied reservations under the SC Classification Act directly in the DSC.
Additionally, a 3% sports quota allowed 372 athletes to secure teaching positions based solely on their sports credentials, bypassing the written tests.
Looking back, Naidu emerges as a key figure in teacher recruitments, with 14 DSCs conducted from 1994 to 2025, filling 196,619 posts overall.
This latest drive advertised 16,347 vacancies but selected candidates for 15,941, due to shortages in certain categories.
Impressive Numbers
- Kurnool district led with 2,590 posts filled, the highest in the state.
- Women claimed nearly half the spots, with 7,955 successful female candidates.
- Top leaders, including Naidu, Kalyan, and Lokesh, will personally present letters to 22 individuals, such as 16 state-level subject toppers; officials will handle the rest onsite.
Looking Ahead
The unfilled 406 positions, plus emerging vacancies, will feature in another DSC planned for next year.
This ongoing effort signals a commitment to bolstering the teaching workforce steadily.
