Gruesome Homicide in Boduppal
In a chilling incident reminiscent of the Meerpet atrocity, Mahender Reddy, a 27-year-old ride-hailing driver, confessed to murdering his wife, Swathi, in Boduppal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
On August 23, 2025, Reddy assaulted Swathi, dismembered her body using an axe blade, and disposed of the remains in the Musi River across multiple trips to avoid suspicion.
Deceptive Cover-Up Attempt
To conceal the crime, Reddy fabricated a story of Swathi’s disappearance, alerting relatives and filing a missing person’s report with the police.
Suspicions raised by Swathi’s kin led to his interrogation by Medipalli police, during which he admitted to the premeditated killing and disposal of her severed head, limbs, and torso.
Ongoing Investigation and Forensic Efforts
Malkajgiri DCP Padmaja confirmed the recovery of Swathi’s torso at the residence, with DNA testing underway.
Search operations involving GHMC and SDRF teams continue in the Musi River, though the remaining body parts remain unrecovered, complicating the probe.

The couple’s 18-month marriage, strained by inter-caste tensions, had a history of disputes, including a prior case under Section 498(A) for cruelty.
