ANDHRA PRADESH: Andhra Assembly Sessions Begin Today
Sessions Kick Off
The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council commence their sessions today, expected to last a week to ten days.
The ruling alliance is energized post their Super Six-Super Hit celebration, while YSRCP insists on attending only if party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is granted Leader of the Opposition status.
Bills to Replace Ordinances
The government will introduce bills to replace six ordinances, including amendments to the Panchayat Raj, Municipal Acts, AP Motor Vehicle Tax, SC Classification, and the establishment of the India International University of Legal Education and Research in Andhra Pradesh for 2025.
TDP plans to discuss over 20 issues, such as Super-6 schemes, P-4, industrial investments, filling 16,000 teacher posts via DSC, and irrigation projects.
Preparations and Oversight
On Wednesday, Council Chairman Koyye Moshenna Raju and Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu reviewed arrangements with officials, including Chief Secretary K Vijayanand and DGP Harish Kumar Gupta.
They addressed 20 MLC and seven MLA complaints about rights violations, urging strict adherence to protocol and enhanced security measures.
Today’s Agenda
The Assembly starts at 9 am and the Council at 10 am with question-and-answer sessions, followed by the presentation of government documents.
A Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting will finalize the session duration and discussion topics, with the Council’s BAC meeting set for Friday.
Strategic Moves
A Cabinet meeting today will approve the bills, with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu guiding ministers’ responses.
YSRCP, skipping the Assembly, will attend the Council, with Jagan advising MLAs on media interactions and MLCs on Council conduct in a party meeting this afternoon.
