Hyderabad: Special Trains to Tirupati from Kacheguda
Enhanced Travel for Tirupati Pilgrims
South Central Railway (SCR) has announced eight special trains from Kacheguda to Tirupati starting July 10, 2025, to ease pilgrim travel. This initiative bypasses Secunderabad and Charlapalli due to ongoing infrastructure constraints.
Strategic Shift to Kacheguda
The decision to operate from Kacheguda stems from overcrowding and maintenance challenges at Secunderabad, coupled with accessibility issues at Charlapalli. These factors have prompted SCR to reroute special services for better passenger convenience.
Comprehensive Special Train Network
SCR will operate 48 special trains across key routes, including eight Kacheguda-Tirupati services (Thursdays and Fridays), 12 Tirupati-Hisar services (Wednesdays and Sundays), and 16 Narsapur-Tiruvannamalai services (Wednesdays and Thursdays). Advance reservations are available for all services until September 25, 2025.
Amrit Bharat Station Upgrades
Secunderabad’s ongoing modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with a ₹700 crore investment, has led to temporary service disruptions. The project aims to enhance 40 Telangana stations with world-class amenities by late 2025.
Passenger-Centric Infrastructure
Upgraded stations will feature modern waiting halls, lifts, escalators, free Wi-Fi, and accessibility for differently-abled passengers. Designs will reflect local culture, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.
Long-Term Benefits Amid Short-Term Adjustments
While track works and platform expansions cause temporary rerouting, the upgrades promise seamless travel experiences. Passengers are advised to check SCR’s official website for detailed schedules and updates.
