Hyderabad: Revanth’s Dare: KCR Ready for Water Clash?

Open Challenge to Debate

In a candid chat with reporters at his home, Telangana’s chief minister A Revanth Reddy threw down the gauntlet to former leader K Chandrashekar Rao. He offered to kick off assembly sessions on January 2, 2026, if KCR steps up for a direct showdown on Krishna and Godavari river shares. Revanth stressed that real talks belong in the house, not roadside rallies, and promised full respect for KCR’s stature there.

Folks in Telangana have long felt the sting of uneven water deals, and Revanth wants facts on the table. He even said any wise input from KCR’s experience would get a nod from his team.

Accusations of Water Betrayal

Revanth didn’t hold back, pinning blame on KCR for signing off on deals that shortchanged Telangana with just 299 TMC from Krishna waters. He claimed this let Andhra Pradesh siphon off more, dooming districts like Palamuru and Nalgonda. Under KCR’s watch, projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy shifted intakes to favor contractors over people, Revanth alleged.

Imagine families watching rivers flow away while fields dry up. Revanth’s push for 71 percent share now aims to right those old wrongs.

Debt Burden and Financial Woes

Turning to money matters, Revanth called out KCR for racking up over eight lakh crore in loans at steep rates, crippling the state’s finances. He shared how his trips to Delhi are about easing that load by refinancing at lower interest, potentially saving four thousand crore yearly. KCR’s era, he said, wrecked the economy like a storm.

It’s like inheriting a house with a leaky roof and massive bills. Revanth’s team has already poured funds into stalled projects to get water flowing.

Family Feuds in Opposition

Revanth painted a picture of turmoil in KCR’s circle, with son KT Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao clashing over power and assets. He suggested KCR’s recent public splash is a bid to reclaim control amid these rifts. Even KCR’s daughter got sidelined, while Revanth honors women statewide with gifts.

These personal jabs highlight how politics can tear at family ties. Revanth urged BRS to decide if KCR fits as opposition leader if he skips sessions.

Incomplete Projects Legacy

Despite splashing two lakh crore on irrigation, KCR’s government finished none, Revanth charged. Names like SLBC and Dindi linger as half-done dreams that could have boosted water use. Now, his administration has injected over six thousand crore to wrap them up.

Farmers’ hopes hung in the balance for years. Revanth’s focus is on delivery, not just promises.

Festival Poster Launch

Wrapping up the evening, Revanth unveiled the poster for Medaram’s grand tribal fair, set for late January 2026. Ministers joined in, signaling big prep for the event that draws millions. It’s a nod to cultural roots amid political heat.

Events like this bring communities together, offering a break from debates.
