Hyderabad Rings in 2026: Strict Rules for Safe Revelry
Commissioner’s Stern Warning
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has cautioned partygoers and organizers against exceeding limits during New Year celebrations. Violations of rules will face tough penalties to keep festivities peaceful.
He stressed that breaking norms could turn joyful moments into regrettable ones. Citizens should welcome 2026 responsibly while respecting the law.
Enhanced Security Measures
Police held a video conference with officers to review arrangements for Christmas, Vaikuntha Ekadashi, and New Year. Robust deployments aim to prevent incidents across the city.
Special focus includes women’s safety, with 15 SHE Teams operating in plain clothes at key spots. Patrols will cover crowded venues, roads, and public areas.
Event Guidelines for Venues
Organizers of events in three-star and above hotels, pubs, and clubs must obtain prior police permission online. CCTV cameras are mandatory at entries, exits, and parking zones.
Events can run until 1 a.m., but outdoor sound systems must stop by 10 p.m. Indoor noise levels cannot exceed set limits, or equipment will be seized.
Crackdown on Drunk Driving
Special drives against driving under influence start from December 24 and intensify on December 31. Checkpoints will operate at major junctions from evening hours.
Offenders risk vehicle seizure, fines up to Rs. 10,000, jail time, and license suspension. Police urge using cabs or designated sober drivers.
Additional Prohibitions
Venues cannot allow drugs, obscene acts, or firearms. Minors are barred from certain events, and managements bear responsibility for compliance.
Fireworks displays are banned, and traffic flow must remain unobstructed. Cooperation from public and organizers is key for smooth celebrations.
