Hyderabad: CP Cracks Down on Transgenders: No More Forced Collections

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar issued a firm warning to the transgender community against forced money demands at events. The move comes amid a wave of public complaints about harassment during weddings and other celebrations.

On December 12, 2025, Sajjanar held a direct meeting with around 250 transgender individuals at the CESS Auditorium in Ameerpet. He stressed that groups arriving uninvited and pressuring hosts for large sums would face strict legal consequences, including possible jail time.

The commissioner urged community members to pursue respectful livelihoods through government job and skill programs. He also voiced worry over rising internal rivalries, which have sparked violence and even deaths in recent clashes.

Support System Highlighted

Additional Director General of Police Charu Sinha, from the CID and Women Safety Wing, spoke at the event. She pointed to the ‘Pride Place‘ initiative as a dedicated channel for addressing grievances faced by transgender persons.

  • Pride Place offers immediate help for issues like discrimination or harassment.
  • It aims to foster dignity and integration into society.
  • Officials promised ongoing police backing for those choosing lawful paths.

Efforts are also underway to link community members with corporate jobs, as noted by transgender welfare authorities.

This dialogue reflects a balanced approach: tough on violations, yet supportive of welfare and rights. Many hope it leads to fewer conflicts and better opportunities for all involved.
