ANDHRA PRADESH: AP Home Minister Blasts YSRCP Over Violent Birthday Revelry
Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha launched a fierce attack on YSRCP leaders.
She accused them of promoting extreme behavior disguised as political activity, especially during former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday celebrations on December 21.
Anitha highlighted how birthdays typically involve positive acts like helping the needy or temple visits. Instead, she claimed YSRCP supporters turned festive events into displays of aggression.
Disturbing Acts During Celebrations
Reports emerged of YSRCP activists sacrificing goats in public and smearing blood on Jagan’s flex banners across multiple constituencies.
These incidents occurred in areas like Kalyanadurgam, Uravakonda, Singanamala, Raptadu, and Kuppam, often with former ministers present.
Videos of the rituals spread widely on social media. Police have registered cases against several individuals, including arrests in East Godavari and bookings in the Anantapur district.
- Goat sacrifices in full public view.
- Blood rituals on party banners.
- Cake cutting with sickles and large knives.
- Slogans threatening violence, like promises to “chop” in 2029.
One particularly shocking case involved a supporter allegedly kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach after she asked them to stop loud firecrackers. The woman needed hospital care, and police arrested the accused.
Allegations of Organized Instigation
Anitha described the similar acts across over ten areas as clear evidence of coordinated efforts, possibly directed by Jagan himself. She said party leaders are encouraging rowdyism to disrupt state progress.
She expressed worry over young people and even children being drawn into aggressive slogans and actions, calling it a risky path that could shape them wrongly. Parents, she urged, should guide their kids toward better futures.
Silence from Jagan Draws Fire
The minister questioned why Jagan has not condemned these actions, no matter how extreme.
She pointed to his personal history of legal disputes with family as reason to doubt his leadership on such issues.
Anitha stressed that the current government, under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, prioritizes law and order without compromise.
Stern Warning to Offenders
Authorities have full details of everyone involved in the rituals and threats.
The government plans strict measures, including public parading of offenders and potential expulsion from the state if needed.
While focusing on skill centers for youth employment, Anitha contrasted this with claims that opposition figures are handing out weapons instead. Any further threats will lead to jail, she warned.
This controversy has sparked wider debate on responsible opposition conduct and public safety in Andhra Pradesh politics.
