ANDHRA PRADESH: Chandrababu’s Singapore Mission: Reviving Ties, Boosting AP

Apology for Past Missteps
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed regret for previous administrative errors during his address to the Telugu diaspora in Singapore. He acknowledged that actions by the YSRCP government, which assumed power in 2019, strained relations with Singapore, impacting Andhra Pradesh’s global reputation.

Restoring Bilateral Relations
Naidu’s five-day visit aims to mend ties with Singapore, emphasizing renewed collaboration. Accompanied by Ministers Lokesh, Narayana, TG Bharat, AP NRTS Chairman Vemuri Ravi, and Indian High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule, the event commenced with the anthem Maa Telugu Talliki and a song dedicated to Amaravati.

Vision for a Singapore-Model State
Reflecting on his 2014 promise to transform Andhra Pradesh into a Singapore-like hub, Naidu recalled securing a free master plan from Singapore’s then-Prime Minister Lee. He lamented disruptions caused by subsequent governance, which halted progress on Amaravati and Polavaram projects.

Call to Telugu Diaspora
Naidu urged the 40,000-strong Telugu community in Singapore to contribute to Andhra Pradesh’s development. He highlighted the P4 program to reduce poverty, encouraging NRIs to adopt villages and share expertise to foster growth in their homeland.

Singapore as a Model
Praising Singapore’s discipline and innovation, Naidu cited its garbage-to-electricity system, which he implemented in Hyderabad. He recounted an anecdote of a Singaporean driver refusing a tip, underscoring the city-state’s integrity as an inspiration.

Cultural and Economic Initiatives
Naidu announced plans for direct flights from Singapore to Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati. He also proposed special arrangements for NRIs to visit Tirumala and advocated for Telugu language education in Singapore’s schools.

Investment Opportunities
The CM invited investments in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the Green Hydrogen Valley and startup ecosystems. He assured full governmental support for Telugu professionals establishing ventures in the state.

Preserving Telugu Heritage
Emphasizing the importance of cultural continuity, Naidu called for maintaining Telugu traditions globally. He envisioned Venkateswara Swamy temples in every national capital, reinforcing spiritual ties for the diaspora.
