In a tragic escalation of marital discord, Khader Basha, aged 42, succumbed to severe burns inflicted by his spouse, Nisha, in their residence at Lakshmi Nagar, Kolathur, Chennai. The altercation occurred amid a history of alcohol-induced confrontations.
On the night of August 9, 2025, Khader Basha returned home intoxicated and engaged in a heated dispute with Nisha. Overwhelmed by fury, she allegedly poured scalding oil on him in the early hours of August 10, 2025.

The victim sustained critical thermal injuries and was promptly admitted to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for intensive care. Authorities from the Kolathur police station initiated proceedings, detaining Nisha on charges of grievous harm.
Medical interventions proved insufficient, and Khader Basha expired on the afternoon of August 18, 2025, while under treatment.
