Historic Allocation for Spiritual Hub
The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹693.25 crore for the comprehensive development of the Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada, aiming to elevate it to the stature of Yadagirigutta. This ambitious project seeks to enhance infrastructure and devotee facilities at the revered “Dakshina Kashi.”
Phased Funding Strategy
The funding will be disbursed in stages: ₹108.25 crore for immediate works, ₹285 crore in the second phase, ₹100 crore in the third, and ₹250 crore by 2027-28. This structured approach ensures sustained progress in upgrading the temple complex and surrounding areas.
Infrastructure Enhancements
The allocation will fund a 20-acre parking facility, a shopping complex, and specialized sheds for local vendors. Additional plans include restoring nearby temples and improving access routes, such as the road from Mulavagu Bridge to the temple.
Cultural and Economic Impact
The project aims to transform Vemulawada into a premier spiritual and tourism destination, boosting the local economy. Enhanced facilities will cater to the influx of devotees during festivals like Mahashivaratri, ensuring a seamless pilgrimage experience.

Historical Significance
Dating back to the Western Chalukya period (750-973 CE), the temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is renowned for its “Kode Mokkulu” ritual and communal harmony, exemplified by a Dargah within its premises. The development underscores its enduring spiritual legacy.
