Legal Action Against Sakshi Media
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu filed a defamation suit against Sakshi TV and the Sakshi newspaper, alleging the publication of unfounded articles on August 10 and 14.
Naidu contended that the reports not only tarnished his personal reputation but also offended the sentiments of devotees associated with the revered shrine. The suit seeks an unconditional apology and Rs 10 crore in damages payable to TTD.
Demand for Broadcast Suspension
In addition to the civil suit, Naidu lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, urging the immediate cessation of Sakshi TV’s transmissions.
He argued that the media outlet’s actions violated journalistic ethics and constituted a deliberate attempt to malign public figures. The ministry has yet to respond formally to the plea.
