ANDHRA PRADESH: Tirumala Parakamani Theft Case Complainant Found Dead Mysteriously

A former vigilance officer at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams met a tragic end on a railway track, sparking questions about links to a long-simmering theft probe.

Y. Satish Kumar, once central to exposing currency pilfering from the temple’s donation hall, turned up dead near Tadipatri in the Anantapur district.

Authorities now probe whether foul play or despair drove him to the rails, amid whispers of mounting pressures from a reopened investigation.

Echoes of the Parakamani Probe
The Parakamani case traces back to April 2023, when Satish Kumar, serving as Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer, caught colleague C.V. Ravi Kumar red-handed stuffing $900 into his clothing during hundi counts.

Kumar filed the complaint that led to a charge sheet, but the matter took a twist months later.

Under alleged influence from officials and politicians, the duo struck a deal in Tirupati’s Lok Adalat on September 9, donating properties worth crores to the trust in exchange for case closure.

That settlement held until the TDP-led coalition assumed power in June 2024, reigniting scrutiny.

By September, Ravi Kumar’s family had gone underground, evading summons.

Fast-forward to October 2025: The Andhra Pradesh High Court quashed the compromise, tasking the CID and Anti-Corruption Bureau with a full review due by December 2.

From Complainant to Questioned Figure
Satish Kumar, a native of Pattikonda in Kurnool district, had shifted to Circle Inspector at Guntakal’s Government Railway Police by the time probes intensified.

What began as his whistleblowing role evolved into grueling interrogations by a Special Investigation Team.

Sources indicate he faced repeated notices, transforming from accuser to accused in the eyes of investigators.

His death, discovered Friday morning, reveals bruises on his face and body, fueling speculation over suicide or staging.

The timing hits hard, just as the CID’s inquiry nears key revelations on the settlement’s legitimacy.

Political Ripples and Calls for Scrutiny
YSR Congress Party leader Sake Sailajanath pointed fingers at the SIT, claiming relentless harassment pushed Satish to the brink.

He urged a Supreme Court judge-led inquiry into interrogation tactics and potential overreach, decrying the temple board’s politicization under the new regime.

Police have launched an inquest, with forensic teams scouring the scene for clues.

As the Parakamani saga unfolds, this loss casts a shadow, prompting demands for transparency in how sacred institutions handle graft allegations.
