ANDHRA PRADESH: Sharmila Defends Son as Rajasekhara Reddy’s True Heir Against YSRCP

YS Sharmila, the Congress state president in Andhra Pradesh, has fiercely defended her son against claims linking him to politics.

Speaking at a Kisan Congress meeting in Vijayawada, she accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading false propaganda about her family.

Defending Her Son’s Legacy
Sharmila clarified that her son, named Raja Reddy by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, has not entered politics.

She dismissed a morphed video circulated by opponents as a laughable attempt to tarnish her family’s image.

She challenged YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to address allegations of supporting a BJP-backed candidate in the Vice Presidential election.

Accusing YSRCP of Betrayal
Sharmila alleged that Jagan has aligned YSRCP with the BJP, betraying her father’s anti-BJP legacy.

She claimed Jagan supported BJP policies during his five-year tenure and facilitated corporate interests linked to Reliance and Adani. If YS Rajasekhara Reddy were alive, Sharmila said, Jagan’s actions would have shamed him.

Criticizing Political Alliances
The Congress leader accused YSRCP of acting as a “tail party” for the BJP, urging Jagan to admit this allegiance publicly.

She contrasted YSRCP’s actions with the BRS in Telangana, which has remained neutral in voting. Sharmila called Jagan’s support for BJP candidates a betrayal of her father’s principles.

Addressing State Issues
Sharmila criticized the state government’s policies, particularly the privatization of medical colleges.

She highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s high farmer suicide rates and lack of crop support prices. Congress, she emphasized, is committed to advocating for farmers’ rights.

Questioning Government Promises
Sharmila questioned the effectiveness of the government’s “Super Six” schemes, asking why promised benefits have not reached the public.

She positioned Congress as a champion for the people, opposing policies that neglect farmers and the underprivileged.

Her remarks have sparked debate, with social media amplifying discussions on YSRCP’s political alignments and the legacy of YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

The ongoing feud underscores deep political divisions in Andhra Pradesh.
