NATIONAL: Rahul Gandhi Slams EC, Alleges Massive Vote Theft in Haryana Elections
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unleashed a series of explosive claims against the Election Commission of India during a press conference on November 5, 2025.
He accused the body of shielding widespread vote manipulation in the 2024 Haryana assembly elections, which he described as a direct assault on democratic principles.
Gandhi presented what he called the “H-Files,” a dossier detailing alleged irregularities that supposedly favored the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
Core Accusations of Fraud
Gandhi asserted that around 25 lakh votes were illicitly added, representing roughly 12.5 percent of the total ballots cast in Haryana.
He pointed to systemic failures that allowed fake entries to proliferate unchecked.
According to him, this scale of interference explains why Congress lost despite favorable exit poll predictions.
The leader highlighted the presence of over five lakh bogus voters on the rolls, equating to one fake vote for every eight legitimate ones.
He questioned the integrity of the voter verification process, noting that Election Commission software could detect duplicates in moments but failed to act.
Shocking Instances of Duplication
In a striking example, Gandhi referenced a Brazilian model’s photograph appearing 22 times in the voter list under varied identities, such as Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati, complete with differing ages and genders.
He also uncovered more than one lakh entries with fabricated images and over 93,000 linked to incorrect addresses.
Further anomalies included 223 identical photos across just two polling booths and thousands of voters who appeared to have cast ballots in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Gandhi alleged that hundreds of these phantom votes bore addresses tied to BJP functionaries, raising doubts about partisan involvement.
Scrutiny on Election Oversight
Gandhi demanded accountability from the Election Commission, asking why such glaring issues went unaddressed during polling.
He suggested officials deliberately overlooked them to tilt the scales toward the BJP. “If the EC truly valued fair play, these fakes would have vanished in seconds,” he stated.
The timing of these revelations, just before Bihar’s first phase of assembly elections, underscores the broader implications for India’s electoral trust. Gandhi urged immediate investigations to restore public faith.

The Election Commission swiftly dismissed the charges as baseless, pointing out that no formal complaints were lodged by Congress polling agents at the time.
Officials emphasized their rigorous checks and called the claims an attempt to undermine the process without evidence.
Support came from the Aam Aadmi Party, with spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj labeling electoral fraud as ingrained in the BJP’s approach.
