ANDHRA PRADESH: Jagan’s App to Fight Andhra’s Political Crackdown Unveiled
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, addressing a Political Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting on July 29, 2025, announced a new mobile application to counter alleged government harassment by enabling citizens to report injustices.
He accused the TDP-led NDA government of orchestrating false cases against YSRCP leaders, signaling a broader strategy to suppress dissent in Andhra Pradesh.
Innovative App to Combat Injustice
Jagan revealed plans for a YSRCP mobile application, allowing users to register complaints and upload evidence of harassment, which will be stored on a digital server for review.
The party pledges to investigate these complaints and pursue legal action if it regains power in 2029. This initiative aims to empower citizens and party members to document alleged abuses systematically.
Allegations of Political Vendetta
The former Chief Minister accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of fostering a “terrifying atmosphere” through false cases against YSRCP leaders like Mithun Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Nandigam Suresh, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, and Anil Kumar Yadav. Jagan claimed these arrests target active party members to stifle opposition, citing no substantive evidence linking them to alleged irregularities.
Specific Cases of Harassment
Jagan highlighted the arrests of Mithun Reddy and Chevireddy, questioning their connection to the alleged liquor scam, and criticized the NDA for continuing business with distilleries previously deemed substandard.
He also noted the 191-day detention of MP Nandigam Suresh for “questioning too harshly” and the targeting of former minister Roja and ZP chairperson Harika, alleging attacks on women leaders’ dignity.
Governance Failures and Broken Promises
The YSRCP chief lambasted the NDA government for failing to implement key promises, including the “Super Six” schemes, and accused it of masking governance failures with politically motivated cases.
Jagan pointed to systemic corruption, alleging police officers act as “collection agents” for TDP leaders, distributing proceeds from illicit liquor and sand operations.
Security Concerns for Jagan
Jagan raised concerns over inadequate security during his public visits, notably in Nellore, where police restricted YSRCP gatherings to maintain law and order. In-charge SP Damodar limited attendance at events, banned road shows and bike rallies, and threatened legal action for violations, which Jagan’s team decried as attempts to curb public mobilization.
Call for Resilience and Retribution
Quoting former minister Roja, Jagan vowed that YSRCP would “rise again” and deliver “compound interest” to those perpetrating injustices. He condemned the TDP’s alleged authoritarian tactics, warning that continued persecution could lead to legal consequences for ruling party members if YSRCP returns to power.
