Mumbai police have dismantled a massive drug trafficking network operating from Hyderabad’s Cherlapalli industrial area. The operation resulted in the seizure of mephedrone (MD) valued at approximately ₹12,000 crore, marking one of India’s largest drug hauls to date.
Covert Factory Exposed
The syndicate operated under the façade of Waghdevi Labs, a chemical factory equipped with advanced machinery for large-scale drug production. Authorities uncovered the operation following weeks of covert surveillance and precise intelligence gathering.
Strategic Police Operation
The Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police launched a meticulous investigation, deploying informants to track the syndicate’s activities. A lightning raid on the Cherlapalli facility exposed the illicit production of narcotics under a fraudulent license.
Seizures and Arrests
The raid yielded 100 grams of mephedrone, ₹25 lakh in cash, and 32,000 liters of precursor chemicals used in drug manufacturing. Twelve individuals, including factory owner and chemical expert Srinivas, his associate Tanaji Pathe, and a foreign national, were apprehended.
Nationwide Network
Investigations revealed the syndicate supplied drugs across Maharashtra and several other states, highlighting the extensive reach of the operation. The discovery of such a vast network operating from Hyderabad has raised significant concerns.
