ANDHRA PRADESH: High Court Orders CID Investigation into TTD Property Scandal

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has stepped in decisively on a lingering theft scandal at Tirumala’s Parakamani, mandating a thorough CID investigation.

This move comes amid concerns over a hasty settlement that sidelined proper scrutiny.

The ruling underscores the need for accountability in sacred institutions.

Court’s Firm Directives
Judges have directed the CID to delve into the Parakamani affair, focusing on the questionable Lok Adalat resolution of the theft case.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) must now probe the assets of key suspect Ravikumar, a former employee accused of large-scale pilfering.

Further, the court emphasized examining the Thitide board and officials’ involvement in the settlement process.

Bank accounts and properties of Ravikumar and his relatives fall under the spotlight, with a specific call to trace any potential asset transfers.

The ACB has been tasked to deliver a comprehensive report at the upcoming hearing, ensuring no stone remains unturned in this matter of public trust.

Roots of the 2023 Theft Case
The saga unfolded in 2023 under the YSRCP administration, when a complaint reached Thitide Vigilance alleging massive embezzlement by Ravikumar from Parakamani funds.

Despite the gravity, authorities opted for a quick Lok Adalat closure without exhaustive checks.

This prompted a petition that brought the issue before the High Court, highlighting procedural lapses in handling sacred revenues.

The court’s intervention now aims to restore transparency in temple operations.

Sadhu Parishad’s Stark Warnings
Representing the Sadhu Parishad, senior advocate Unnam Muralidhar painted a picture of systemic flaws, calling the rushed settlement a red flag for broader irregularities in Parakamani.

He pointed to the group’s impeachment petition as a catalyst for anonymous threats, questioning the motives behind such intimidation.

The bench responded by requiring respondents to file counters to the Parishad’s claims, signaling deeper judicial oversight.

This development raises questions about safeguarding devotee contributions in revered sites.
