Thirty-four students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering department crafted these under the guidance of faculty members CH Kavya and K Sarath Kumar.
The university’s greenfield campus cricket ground served as the makeshift launch site, drawing attention from tech enthusiasts. Union Minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma graced the event, highlighting its national significance.

KL JAC: Tiny Wonder in the Skies
This pico balloon satellite, no bigger than a credit card, will linger in the troposphere for three months. It stands out as one of the smallest educational satellites ever built.
Key tasks include researching air quality, running telemetry checks, and assessing satellite link performance. Its lightweight design makes it ideal for extended atmospheric studies.
KL SAT-2: Hybrid Flight Marvel
Featuring a hybrid aeroswift vertical takeoff and landing module, this satellite took off with drone assistance. A built-in spectrometer gathers crucial environmental data during flight.
It combines drone tech with satellite functions for versatile operations. This setup allows efficient collection of atmospheric insights from varying altitudes.
CanSat: Competition Winner Takes Flight
Selected from Andhra Pradesh in a national contest by Mini Satellite Inspace, ISRO, and the Aeronautical Society of India, CanSat aligns with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
As a mini satellite, it targets weather patterns and air quality analysis. Its design emphasizes self-reliance in space technology development.
