ANDHRA PRADESH: Chandrababu: No Delays in Approvals for Investments in AP

Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself as India’s next tech frontier, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu touting a landmark Google data center investment during the India-Europe Business Conference in Visakhapatnam.

Speaking at the Novotel venue, Naidu highlighted the project’s potential to spark innovation and jobs, framing it as a bridge between global tech giants and the state’s skilled workforce.

The event drew heavyweights like Bharat Forge Vice Chairman Amit Kalyani and CII representatives, underscoring Europe’s growing stake in India’s digital surge.

Naidu’s pitch was unapologetically optimistic: Google plans a 1-gigawatt AI-powered data center in Visakhapatnam, backed by an estimated Rs.87,520 crore over five years.

“This isn’t just infrastructure; it’s the foundation for self-reliance,” he remarked, crediting Indians’ global IT prowess for drawing such commitments.

With close India-Europe ties as the backdrop, the conference buzzed with talks of streamlined investments and rapid approvals.

Quantum Leap in Amaravati
Naidu didn’t stop at data center. He revealed plans for a quantum computing hub in Amaravati, designed to lure cutting-edge research.

“We’re cutting red tape permissions in 45 days, incentives for quick starts,” he assured investors, emphasizing Andhra Pradesh’s edge in infrastructure like ports and railways.

The state’s young innovators, he added, are primed to turn fresh ideas into reality, inviting firms to “invest without delay.”

This aligns with national ambitions, as Naidu echoed India’s 500-gigawatt green energy goal.

Andhra Pradesh aims for 160 gigawatts through solar, wind, and pumped storage, all while fostering diverse sectors.

Drones and space tech got shoutouts too a dedicated drone city for manufacturing and a space hub to rival established players.

Green Energy and Beyond
The conference spotlighted Andhra Pradesh’s business-friendly reforms, from ease-of-doing-business rankings to connectivity upgrades.

Naidu painted a picture of ports linked seamlessly to rail networks, creating logistics lifelines for exporters.

In green energy, investments are flowing, he said, positioning the state as a hub for sustainable growth amid global shifts.

Key initiatives include:

  • Large-scale drone integration for agriculture and surveillance.
  • A space city to boost satellite and launch capabilities.
  • Expanded ports to handle rising trade volumes.

Naidu wrapped with a call to action: “Our skilled youth are ready to join us in building tomorrow.” As Europe eyes deeper inroads, the question hangs: Can Andhra Pradesh deliver on this vision without the policy pitfalls of the past?
