INTERNATIONAL: Ceasefire Shattered: Fresh Missile Attacks Reignite Iran-Israel Tensions

Missiles Fired Hours After Ceasefire Agreement

Tensions flared up once again between Iran and Israel just hours after a ceasefire agreement was declared. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that two ballistic missiles from Iran entered Israeli airspace, breaking the truce. Sirens were sounded across northern Israel, and residents were advised to remain in protected areas until further instructions.

Israel Warns of Stern Response

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the country would respond strongly to what he termed a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire. He added that the counterattacks would target key strategic locations important to Iran. The IDF had reportedly remained on high alert due to ongoing threats, despite the ceasefire announcement.

Confusion Over Ceasefire Implementation

US President Donald Trump initially announced that a ceasefire agreement had been reached between Tehran and Tel Aviv, aiming to end the 12-day-long hostilities in West Asia. However, shortly after this announcement, Iranian officials issued statements claiming that no formal agreement had been signed, but that military operations had ceased.

This conflicting information added to the uncertainty, with both nations continuing exchanges of fire before finally acknowledging that a ceasefire was in effect. The latest missile incident now puts that fragile truce in jeopardy.

Rising Regional Instability

Before the missile incident, an Israeli defense official noted that Iran still posed a military threat and that the ceasefire did not guarantee immediate peace. As a precaution, Israel had placed its air force and military units on alert. These remarks came just before the alleged violation, suggesting that Israel anticipated further aggression from Tehran.
