TELANGANA: BRS Turmoil: Kavitha’s Exit Sparks Political Firestorm

Malla Reddy Backs Kavitha’s Suspension
Former minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Malla Reddy endorsed the party’s decision to suspend MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, citing her defiance as justification.

Speaking after a Ganesha puja event organized by the Sri Venkateswara Lorry Association in Boynpally, he emphasized the primacy of party interests over familial ties.

He asserted that K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) prioritizes Telangana’s welfare and the BRS’s integrity, dismissing Kavitha’s actions as detrimental to the party’s objectives.

Defense of KCR and Kaleshwaram Project
Malla Reddy refuted allegations surrounding the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, labeling them as false propaganda orchestrated by the Congress government.

He argued that no investigative agency, including the CBI, could undermine KCR’s legacy, portraying him as a revered leader dedicated to Telangana’s progress.

He accused the Congress of fabricating controversies to mislead the public, framing the Kaleshwaram issue as a political drama.

Union Minister Questions CBI Probe Delays
Union Minister Bandi Sanjay criticized the delayed handling of the Kaleshwaram corruption case, despite reports from the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and Vigilance.

He questioned the Congress government’s reluctance to refer the phone-tapping case to the CBI, suggesting Kavitha’s resignation was a diversionary tactic.

He called for broader discussions on alleged scams, including Kaleshwaram and livestock distribution schemes, to ensure accountability.

KTR Alleges Congress-BJP Conspiracy
BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) claimed that the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are colluding to tarnish the BRS through the CBI probe into Kaleshwaram.

Speaking to the media in Erravalli, he highlighted widespread dissatisfaction with the Congress’s 21-month governance.

KTR praised KCR’s contributions to the Kaleshwaram project, describing it as a monumental achievement and accusing the opposition of targeting the BRS leadership unjustly.

Revanth Reddy Rejects Involvement
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy dismissed allegations of orchestrating internal BRS conflicts, including claims by Kavitha that he was aligned with T. Harish Rao.

He stated that the public had already rejected BRS leaders, emphasizing his focus on public welfare over political maneuvering.

Reddy distanced himself from the BRS’s internal disputes, urging the party to resolve its familial and factional issues independently.

Kavitha’s Allegations and Resignation
Kavitha, in a media conference on September 3, 2025, accused Harish Rao and J. Santosh Kumar of conspiring against her and KCR, leading to her suspension and subsequent resignation from the BRS and MLC post.

She alleged their actions were motivated by personal gain, weakening the party from within.

Her exit has intensified scrutiny of the BRS’s internal dynamics, raising questions about its future cohesion and leadership.
