Amaravati: AP Government Bolsters Disability Welfare with Streamlined Certificate Issuance
Directive for Efficient Identity Card Issuance
The Andhra Pradesh government, under the guidance of Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, has mandated proactive measures to streamline the issuance of recognition cards for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). During a review meeting held on Friday at the Velagapudi Secretariat in Amaravati, the minister instructed officials to align state efforts with the central government’s initiatives to ensure seamless delivery of these essential identity documents.
Integration with Digital Platforms
To enhance accessibility, the minister directed the integration of Sadaram certificate slot bookings through village secretariats, MeeSeva centers, and the innovative Manamitra WhatsApp Governance platform. This multi-channel approach aims to simplify the application process, ensuring that persons with disabilities can easily access necessary services without bureaucratic hurdles.
Timely Certificate Delivery
A key focus of the directive is the expeditious issuance of Sadaram certificates, with a mandate to complete the process within one month from the date of slot booking. This measure is designed to minimize delays and ensure that eligible individuals receive their certificates promptly, enabling access to government benefits and support schemes.
Accessibility for Remote Communities
Special emphasis was placed on organizing Sadaram camps to cater to persons with disabilities from remote areas and tribal hamlets. The minister underscored the importance of conducting these camps to eliminate travel-related challenges, ensuring that even the most marginalized communities can benefit from the initiative without inconvenience.
Comprehensive Recognition Cards
The recognition cards, aligned with the central government’s Unique Disability ID (UDID) framework, will include critical details such as the percentage of disability and personal information of the cardholder. Officials have been tasked with overseeing the preparation and distribution of these cards to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the process.
Healthcare Support for Senior Citizens
In addition to disability welfare, the minister highlighted the PMJAY Vandana Scheme, which offers free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for individuals aged above 70 years. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to holistic welfare, addressing the healthcare needs of elderly citizens alongside disability support.
Commitment to Inclusive Governance
The Andhra Pradesh government’s proactive measures reflect a broader commitment to inclusive governance and social equity. By leveraging digital platforms, streamlining certificate issuance, and prioritizing accessibility, the state aims to empower persons with disabilities and enhance their quality of life through targeted welfare programs.
