INTERNATIONAL: $6.8 billion Spent on Paris Olympics – French Audit Report
The French Court of Auditors has published a preliminary report on the costs of the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. It states that around $6.8 billion, equivalent to approximately ₹58,722 crore, of public funds was spent on organizing the event and related infrastructure.
Organizing Committee’s Response
Tony Estanguet, former president of the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee, clarified that not all expenses should be linked directly to the Olympics. He explained that some costs were incurred before and will continue after the games, suggesting the actual Olympic-related expenditure is likely lower.
